INSTITUTIONAL DEVELOPMENT
A strong well-functioning Farmer Organization is key. It improves the position of small producers, their income and food security. Furthermore, a strong organization is aware of their strengths and weaknesses and has the capacity to develop tools to become stronger.
We support organizations in achieving economic and social sustainability. Economic sustainability is based in transparency and proper financial administration, focusing mainly in project management. The financial independence is supported. For example, through the collection of the organization equity, and by helping organizations to seek other funding or sell their services. Along with economic development, social development is ensured by including vulnerable members as beneficiaries. The inclusion of young people ensures that knowledge is passed down from generation to generation. Ownership and management relationships with existing inputs, such as land, water fertilizers etc., are ensured to make long-term investments.
All our projects organize various training sessions for members of farmers 'organizations and support opportunities for local producer organizations to defend their members' interests. As in Finland, the strengthening of expertise and the ability to defend one's own rights are important issues. Without enough know-how of your product and the strength of negotiating power, revenue may remain low.
The similarities between the struggles of organizations and farmers in the project implementation countries and Finland are every year more evident. Therefore, our experts are ready to provide expertise and experience.
