THE Member organizations of ffd
The Central Union of Agricultural Producers and Forest Owners (MTK):
MTK is an interest organization representing farmers, forest owners and rural entrepreneurs in Finland. MTK has over 316 000 members in local agricultural producers’ organisations and regional forest management associations. All of the occupations and businesses of MTK members are based on renewable natural resources and their utilisation in a sustainable and economical way. MTK is considered to be in top three of the most influential interest groups in Finland. MTK collaborates with its sister organization SLC.
The Central Union of Swedish-speaking Farmers and Forest Owners in Finland (SLC): SLC is representing Finnish farmers, has 10 600 farmer, 19 000 forest owner and rural entrepreneur members. SLC members are located primarily along the southern and western coast of Finland and on the Åland Islands. The key tasks of SLC include political, economical and social supervision of interests and representing the interests of members in agricultural and forest politics, taxation, financing and legal matters, environmental and land policy, and social policy. SLC collaborates with its sister organization MTK.
Pellervo Coop Center (Pellervo):
Pellervo was founded in 1899 and is a service and a lobbying organization for all Finnish co-operatives and a forum for co-operative activities. Pellervo works to make the co-operative business model more known to the public and offer the co-operative model as a competitive alternative for those thinking about starting a business.
Association of ProAgria Centres (ProAgria):
ProAgria is a Finnish expert organization providing an extensive network of specialists and a wide range of services targeted to rural entrepreneurs. The entrepreneurs vary from farmers to small business owners who run businesses mainly in rural Finland. Additionally, ProAgria provides expertise to customers in Russia and the Baltic region. Moreover, ProAgria is an active partner in cooperation with other Nordic counties as well as in development cooperation.
